<Reinterpretation of korean cultural heritage with minimalism> My spirits are lifted whenever I go for a stroll. After a long passage through the dark tunnel cones a streak of light, radiating brighter than ever. Years of agony offered me deep insight, and I glare in arrogance as if the world has been captured at a glance.Though the stones of the rampart seem tedious, they all show their unique features, be it smooth, swollen, sunken, rigid, and round.(With different colors, shapes, and military architectural techniques), a quiet glance at the rampart opens up our eyes, minds, and times of our ancestors who showed their noblesse and stringent life. These square stones do not merely limit themselves to one single image, but rather evolve as one glamorous fortress, and ushers me to centuries of cultural heritage as I breath along the path already trodden by our forefathers. As my recent works are entirely focused on reinterpreting with minimalism,I am radiating brighter than ever. Hanyang Wall (Fortress Wall of Seoul, National Historical Site No.10) : Initially constructed in an environment-friendly method during the first King of Joseon Dynasty in 1396, and rebuilt with fine-carved rectangular stones during the King Sejong era in 1422. Later, the rampart was vastly revamped with evenly cut and installed square stones heaped upvertically during the King Sukjong era in 1704.
